SAFE AND FRIENDLY DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION

On November 3, 2021, NPC ETC attended an online seminar about digital transformation which organized by Vietnam Electricity (EVN) in collaboration with RMIT University. This seminar provided a lot of useful information and broadened the perspective of digital transformation.

According to Vice President of EVN - Mr Vo Quang Lam, EVN has developed a specific strategy in order to become a digital enterprise by 2025. In that process, EVN needs to apply digital technology in many areas of operation to bring more value to customers, increase productivity and reduce costs. As people known, RMIT University is famous by its Digital Transformation Research, which has been awarded by Australasian Conference on Information Systems (ACIS) in 2020. So, EVN and RMIT University have many opportunities to become important partners which aiming on digitally transformation of Vietnam's energy industry.

At the conference, PhD Nguyen Quang Trung – head of RMIT university’s management department clarified important concepts. According to Mr Trung, Digital transformation is the comprehensive change based on advanced technology, continuous optimization and automation of business processes and ecosystems in the hyper-connected era. Six factors which has been noted for successful digital transformation are governance - strategy - culture - technology and network security - data analysis - digital transformation capacity. Analyzing the transition from industry to the digital economy, Professor Jason Potts - Director of the RMIT Blockchain Innovation HUB, said that Blockchain technology plays an essential role, wide application in many activities such as: automation, smart grid, identity and security management, secure sharing resource based on a complex network system.

Professor Mathews Nkhoma - Dean of RMIT of Business and Management, stated that the role of leadership in digital transformation is decisive. Leaders orient the transformation in thinking, mind, and emotions so that employees can understand the system, understand customers, create a comfort feeling and trust in communicating with customers, because digital transformation is inseparable in human values, such as friendliness and progressive spirit.
At the end of the seminar, Vice President Vo Quang Lam thanked RMIT University’s experts for taking the time to discuss and share with EVN. He hopes to continue cooperating with RMIT University in the digital transformation process of EVN.
